THANK YOU!!!!!!

Thank-you for the easy-to-follow instructions. It was painful turning the sound on and off, our beagle was scared by the sound. I had been muting the sound for turn-off to avoid it then, now it’s gone for good… until the TV goes into Demo mode again. Grandma, you’re the bomb!

Thank you for making this so simple! I had to do a re-set on our Samsung tv because it recently kept defaulting to “store demo” mode…very annoying…the whole process! After I finally got it up and running correctly again, the long-forgotten tv on – tv off chiming was back (ugh!). I would’ve never thought to find it under “Plug and Play” / “Melody”. I really appreciate the awesome instructions. You’ve saved what little sanity we have left!

Bless your little bitty heart. I have leased a condo for the winter, and this chime has been driving me crazy. I finally thought to google it, found your post, and it worked perfectly and immediately. Thank you!

hey Felicia,
thank you… I could finally get free of that chimes. Anyway, I still want to be free of the clicking beeps when touching the panel buttons. Any idea on how to do that?
important: it is a plasma TV (model PL42A450P1) with no “Sound Feedback” option on the menu

Ricardo, Sorry, I’m not familiar with the particular model you’re talking about. I’ll do a quick search to see if I can find something, but no promises. 🙁

You have provided an admirable public service–i offer you my gratitude! Why Samsung would assume we want it known by all in the house when the TV is switched from on to off, and vice versa, defies any logic.
- Felicia March 19, 2020, 8:56 am
Cheryl, I agree with you 100%. I can’t figure out why Samsung would do that, but I’m finding similar patterns with other devices around my house. Every time I charge my wireless speaker, it makes an annoying beeping sound. I’ve got to figure out how to silence that also.

All Hail Queen Felicia!
Add me to the increasing numbers of loyal followers of Queen Felicia! Thanks for the instructions and the helpful photos. I’m so glad I found you as the result of a Google search.
For the Love of All That Is Holy… why on earth would Samsung program that feature in? Maybe they should use Google search and type in, “How is the general public loving our ‘loud enough to wake your neighbors’ chime for our televisions of a certain size which will most likely be used in bedrooms”? Ha!!! Just kidding.
Thanks Sweetie! You’re the BEST!!!

Hi, LTG–
Thanks for the instructions, although on my particular Samsung, I needed to press EXIT after setting the Melody to OFF. When I tried using the RETURN button after changing the setting, the change didn’t stick.

Thank you LT Grandma, the WHAM sound is really annoying. Glad I found your website. Your instructions work for my TVs, thank you so much. Hope you’ll have tips on Roku, on how to save programs to watch later. Thank you again.
Maya

I’m so glad it helped.
BTW, you’ve helped me to make a decision. I was on the fence as to whether or not to get a Roku. Your inquiry about the Roku tipped the scales in favor of purchasing one. After all, it’s for the greater good of my readers that I get a Roku, don’t you think? 🙂

Thank you Felicia. The solution was quite non-intuitive – and who wants to hear these tones when starting and ending especially when you are operating in the quiet mode.
And Maggie, that is also good info, this explains how it came back on after being off for so long. I was messing around with buttons on the TV buttons (impossible to see) and it must have reversed it back on.

Glad to be of help. I’m hoping that in the future Samsung will change the default to chimes “off” with the option to turn them on if you want them. If not, then they should have an easier, more intuitive way to turn them off (and keep them off).

Hi, I’ve done this many, many times. Every time I turn the tv off, the melody kicks in again when I turn the tv back on. I’ve upgraded the software recently but it still won’t stay silent. Any ideas? Thanks

Excellent, thank you!
